Ekaratsu Oval Deep Dish (Ashi)

Ekaratsu is a representative technique of Karatsu ware with a 400-year history.The pottery is fired with an iron glaze called oniita, in which patterns of grass, trees, flowers, etc. are painted, and then an ash glaze is poured over the top. The exquisite balance between the forcefulness of the brushstrokes and the fine lines that connect them is beautiful, and the surrounding white space makes the patterns stand out even more. This plate is made by molding ceramic clay that has been stretched into a plate shape, which gives it a soft and fluffy texture that is not found on the potter’s wheel. It can be used not only for pasta and curry, but also as a serving bowl, making it an easy-to-use this dish.
